PM procedures — classic — agile
Plan-driven classic project approach
The plan-driven classic project approach, often also known as the waterfall model, is a structured and sequential project management model based on detailed planning and a clear sequence of phases. ISO 21500 provides guidelines for project management and its process groups are aligned with the classic approach.
Agile project approach
The agile project approach is a flexible and iterative method of project management that is particularly effective in dynamic and fast-moving environments. Representatives of these approaches include Scrum, Kanban and Design Thinking.
With its guidelines, ISO 21500 also provides the necessary processes and topics to be observed for these projects.
Hybrid PM approach
Hybrid project management combines the strengths of traditional and agile methods in order to meet the requirements of complex and multi-layered projects. It combines the structured and planning-oriented approaches of the waterfall model with the flexible and adaptable techniques of agile methods.
By integrating classic and agile elements, hybrid project management creates a versatile foundation that can be adapted to the specific needs and challenges of each project.
ISO 21500 provides the necessary guidelines, processes and guidelines for this combined method.
